Rail container transportation from China is a fast option for moving containerized cargo to Russia when sea freight is too slow and air freight is not economically reasonable. We select the route, contact the shipper in advance, book train space, monitor the container movement, support customs clearance and arrange final delivery to your warehouse.
We will prepare a route-based estimate with terminal, timing and cost structure. Sample calculation
The usual transit time for a container train from China to Moscow is 20–23 days. The timing to Saint Petersburg is generally similar. In practice, some shipments arrived in about 18 days, but for planning we recommend allowing about 24 days: this is a realistic horizon including the route, border crossing and transshipment from Chinese gauge to Russian gauge.
Rail is faster than sea freight, but usually more expensive. That is why we compare options by both time and cost, so the client can choose a route that works in practice rather than only on paper.
The cost of rail container transportation depends on the origin station in China, route, container type, season, train space availability, destination station in Russia, terminal charges, customs clearance and final delivery to the warehouse. We calculate not just a bare rate, but the most complete route cost available at the planning stage.
Rail transportation is suitable when cargo needs to arrive faster than by sea, but without paying for air freight. It is a practical option for container shipments, equipment, components and goods tied to delivery dates, especially when the planned arrival date in Moscow, Saint Petersburg or another Russian region matters.
After receiving a request, we clarify the city or station of departure in China, cargo volume, weight, container type, readiness date and delivery address in Russia. We then contact the shipper, check the documents, compare available routes via Zabaykalsk, Kazakhstan or other crossings when suitable, and offer an option by timing and cost.
After approval, we book space, arrange container supply, monitor train movement, track border crossing and terminal arrival, prepare customs documents and deliver the cargo to the client's warehouse.
There are several rail routes from China: via Kazakhstan, via Mongolia and directly into Russia through Zabaykalsk. In practice, we usually prefer routes entering Russia directly via Zabaykalsk when they fit the shipment task, because they reduce transit sections and make container movement easier to control.
Planned gauge transshipment at the border usually takes up to a week and is already included in the overall transit time. It normally runs as expected; occasional delays can happen, and in such cases we warn the client and continue monitoring the container.
Cargo can arrive at different railway terminals depending on the route and destination station. In the Moscow region these may include Vorsino, Khovrino, Selyatino, Bely Rast, Elektrougli, Kupavna, Kresty, Silikatnaya and other terminals. In Saint Petersburg: Voskhod, Neva-Metal, Shushary and other available terminals depending on the actual route.
We support not only transportation, but also customs clearance: we check documents in advance, advise on HS code, customs value, permits and potential risks to reduce avoidable delays. When needed, we contact the shipper and clarify missing details before the container arrives at the terminal.
Usually 20–23 days. For planning, it is better to allow about 24 days because transit time depends on the origin station, route, border crossing, gauge transshipment and terminal workload.

Yes. Such routes are available, and we often use routes entering Russia via Zabaykalsk when they fit the schedule, cost and space availability.
We contact the shipper or supplier, confirm cargo readiness, documents, container loading date and other operational details, so the client does not have to coordinate the process alone.
Yes. We arrange rail transportation, document checks, customs clearance, certification when required and final delivery to warehouse under one contract.
